What is the RDP connection ?

RDP ( Remote Desktop Protocol ) is provided by Microsoft which provides remote display and input capabilities over network connections for Windows-based applications running on a server.  

It allows the user to connect from distant system and access programs, files, and network resources, just like you're sitting in front of your computer at work.
